Emerging Media in Sports

I figured that the best way to start this blog is to introduce myself. I’m Danny Manson, and I am in my final semester in the Masters in Communication program at Marquette University (my alma mater), in wonderful Milwaukee Wisconsin.

I’m taking a class in Emerging Media this fall, and one of the requirements is that we blog about new and emerging media throughout the semester. As far as assignments go, this one should be a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to trying to offer any insight I can to the topic. As sports are a big interest (and possible career path) of mine, I plan to try and take a sports focus with this blog, as the industry is taking advantage of new media at a very rapid clip. While I can’t promise that every one of my posts will focus on the sports industry, I’d say it’s a safe bet that many will.

Finally, a little background on me. I was born and raised in New York City, and other than Milwaukee, I’ve also lived in Massachusetts and Chicago. My Mom has relocated to South Florida, and in the five years since she has done so, I have embraced the snow bird title, and view Miami as a second home of sorts, especially during the Wisconsin winters. I graduated from Marquette in 2006 with a Communication Studies/Political Science double major, and before and after my graduation, I have worked in music management, fundraising, public relations, and journalism. I’m looking forward to my second graduation this December, and rejoining the “real world” that I have grown to miss.

I hope you enjoy this blog!
